Happily Ever Woman

Happily Ever Woman

Riding through a black hole. Blind in the darkness, riding down the road. Headlights dim, air damp. I sit and ponder the night. No cars on the road. I know that trees surround us. The lonely riders. We don’t speak, sleepily passing out on our journey home.

Headphones blaring music, head bopping up and down. Known as the dancing Queen all around town.

I think about singing in the shower and singing in the rain. Dancing under the moonlight, riding the midnight train.

I close my eyes, feel sand between my toes, a moonlit ocean, in my mind a moment froze.

I’m stuck in this moment. Dancing by the sea. Hoping that love will one day find me.

Left my slipper behind at the ball, Cinderella had a bad fall. Now she finds it hard to fly, feet in motion pondering the sky.

Love slumbers in the room next door. Cinderella quietly opens the door. Soon to lay her head to sleep, no more time to weep.

Thinking back to 17. Feeling like the ice queen. Kisses under the porch, stars twinkling bright, open my eyes to this foggy night.

Love is waiting for me in the next room. Midnight to come soon. I live in a lavender haze. Let down my curls and my face they graze.

Staying up late in the night, purple haze and a cold to fight. Dreaming of a special place. It’s written all over my face. Under the palm trees, water bathing me.

Your face is all I ever see.
